Questions for couples

45 deep questions for couples

These questions go past small talk. They ask about fears, family, hard moments and what makes you feel loved. Take your time with them. One deep question can fill a whole evening.

How to play

  1. Answer on your own

Pick a question. You each answer without seeing the other's answer. Write it down or keep it in your head.

  2. Guess your partner's answer

Before you share, guess what your partner said. On pick-one questions, guess which option they chose.

  3. Reveal together

Share both answers at the same time. See who guessed right, then talk about why.

Duotone's Play tab works the same way. You each answer on your own phone, guess your partner's pick, and see both answers once you've both answered.

Frequently asked questions

When is a good time to ask deep questions?

Pick a calm moment when neither of you is tired or rushed. A slow walk, a long drive or a quiet night in works well. Avoid asking in the middle of an argument.

What if a question feels too personal?

Skip it. You can always pass and come back later. Deep questions work best when both of you feel safe to answer honestly, or to say you're not ready yet.

Why answer on your own before talking?

When you answer on your own first, you say what you really think, not what your partner just said. The reveal is where the real talk starts.

Can we play these in Duotone?
